For the third week in a row Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly reached another record low in terms of total viewers on July 23rd this time pulling in a rating of 2.71 million total viewers. In the previous two weeks Kelly got a 3.1 and a 3.21 establishing her previous two week lows and that is according to Nielsen Ratings data. While Kelly did improve ever slightly in the coveted 18-49 demo by getting a .5 rating compared to her previous two weeks of .4 rating. It appears that Megyn has yet to hit rock bottom.
According to an article in Breitbart News, Megyn Kelly’s previous shows could not beat out year old reruns of Dateline that was aired during the Fourth of July holiday weekend when Kelly took the week off. What is laughable is that the reruns of Dateline that aired in her same time slot got an impressive 3.73 million total viewers and had an average of a .5 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
It does not matter whether Kelly’s show airs at her regular time slot of 7 p.m. or in the case of this past Sunday with the NASCAR race running late by airing at 9 p.m. her show keeps losing out to reruns America’s Funniest Home Videos and 60 Minutes. To me what makes this so funny is not only she is losing ratings to AFHV but when it was announced that she was coming to NBC it is portrayed as a big deal and Megyn Kelly and NBC has fallen from grace and it does not appear the bottom is anywhere in site.
If Kelly continues her downward spiral in the ratings, there is talk among executives that her Sunday night show will not return to airwaves after the end of NFL’s Sunday Night Football. To be honest I would not mind if NBC went ahead and took Megyn Kelly’s show off the air this week and that could not come soon enough for majority of America.
