According to a report by Politico, President Trump as given his chief of staff, Reince Priebus, a deadline of July 4th to clean up the mess he made in the White House or face removal of office. I have been calling for the removal of Reince Priebus from chief of staff since my article titled ”Reince Priebus Must Go From Trump’s Staff” dated February 23rd 2017.
As reported by Politico’s Tara Palmeri:
“President Donald Trump has set a deadline of July 4 for a shakeup of the White House that could include removing Reince Priebus as his chief of staff, according to two administration officials and three outside advisers familiar with the matter.”
Granted this is not the first time that President Trump has threatened to have a shakeup of his White House staff since being elected as president, but this threat seems to have traction with the continued dysfunction in the White House and that President Trump is “under more scrutiny than ever regarding the sprawling Russia investigation.”
Palmeri also added: “Days after his return from his first foreign trip late last month, Trump berated Priebus in the Oval office in front of his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and deputy campaign manager David Bossie for the dysfunction in the White House.” President Trump reportedly told Priebus, “I’m giving you until July 4. I don’t want them to come into this mess. If I’m going to clean house, they will come in as fresh blood.”
With July 4th being the reported deadline for Priebus, It is also the deadline that was set by the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for a passage of a healthcare bill through the senate chamber.
It is reported that Trump has considered bringing in David Bossie as deputy White House chief of staff and Corey Lewandowski as a senior adviser role. This is a scenario described by Trump Insider Roger Stone as “The worst idea of all time.”
Stone also stated:
“In many of the same newspaper stories if the ‘fact’ that fired Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski will be returning to the first circle of Trump’s advisors. Lewandowski would supposedly spearhead an effort to find the leakers and to enforce discipline and ‘security’ in the Trump White House.”
“This is the worst idea of all time.”
I have to agree with Roger Stone on this bringing Lewandowski and Bossie on his staff would be a very big mistake by President Trump. Let us hope that this does not happen.
Those that are reportedly being considered for the position of chief of staff should Reince Priebus be removed include former Trump campaign aide David Urban and Blackstone executive Wayne Berman. If David Urban’s name sounds familiar, he was a campaign aide for Trump’s successful campaign in Pennsylvania. Of the two I prefer David Urban as chief of staff to replace Priebus.
