Why Do People Think They Are Entitled?

This is a question I ask myself all the time as I am out in public and see the way people act anymore. They act like they do not have to work for anything and that they should be given what every thing they want. Merriam-Webster defines entitlement as the feeling or belief that you deserve to be given something (such as special privileges).

To give you go example of this all you need to do is read this article from the February 1, 2016 edition of a leading UK paper called The Sun.

In this article a 20 year old woman who is in her second year of at Kings College in London thinks she is entitled to a lifetime supply of Kit Kat candy bars because she bought eight of them and found out that they did not contain any of the wafers inside. The young lady named Saima Ahmad bought a mutli-pack of bars from a supermarket last month for £2 or roughly $2.90 USD now claims that she suffered monetary and emotional loss due to the lack of wafer from inside the candy bar. Saima claims she has written a letter to the company that makes Kit Kats and says that by giving her a lifetime supply of the bars it will allow her to act as quality control for the company.

I have to ask this what in the world is wrong with people around world today by thinking like this woman she is entitles to a free lifetime of candy bars because she got a few without wafers in them. All she should get is a replacement for the ones that did not have the wafers, not a lifetime supply.

It is a shame that America and the world has become a place where it seems every young person or almost everyone in general thinks they are entitled to everything from a free education to someone else paying for everything they want. What has happened to the idea of working hard for what you want and saving for it and then when you get it what you worked for then it means more to you because you accomplished your goal.

This is one of the things that are wrong with the world today that we have become a world of me people and only what me can get for nothing. Let end this madness today and get back our hard work ethic and a sense of accomplishment from hard work.
