RED ALERT!!! RED ALERT!!! for the American people. Obama’s Justice Department has created a domestic terrorism unit that will focus on what they previously called libertarians and conservatives now as domestic extremists.
The DOJ announced it will appoint a “domestic terrorism counsel” to focus on who the Obama administration and the controversial Southern Poverty Law Center considers “extremists.”
“Looking back over the past few years, it is clear that domestic terrorists and homegrown violent extremists remain a real and present danger to the United States,” the DOJ’s Assistant Attorney General John Carlin said on Wednesday October 14th.
Assistant AG Carlin also said “The new DT Counsel will not only help ensure that DT cases are properly coordinated but will also play a key role in our headquarters-level efforts to identify trends to help shape our strategy, and to analyze legal gaps or enhancements required to ensure we can combat these threats.”
Citing the proliferation of lone wolf-styled attacks, Carlin said, “Lone offenders, or other small groups, plan and carry out their attacks with limited assistance,” Carlin said, pointing to the “power of the Internet” to help them organize. Carlin twice mentioned Islamic extremism in his comments but then immediately went on to claim that domestic terror by groups sporting “anti-government animus,” “eco-radicalism,” and “racism” are just as dangerous despite the much smaller number of incidents sponsored by such disparate groups.
The new office is teaming up with the controversial Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Though the relationship is not fully detailed in his remarks, several times Carlin noted the SPLC’s history of tracking “hate groups” and its presence on the Internet.
But the Justice Dept. and the Department of Homeland Security previously characterized libertarians , conservatives, and constitutionalists as militia-inspired domestic extremists as stated in a 2009 Missouri Information Analysis Center report. It also stated “Militia members most commonly associated with third-party political groups. It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitutional Party, Campaign for Liberty or libertarian material.” Also stated in the report is says “These members are usually supporters of former presidential candidates Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr.”
Even more concerning, the MIAC report encouraged law enforcement to scrutinize Americans who oppose abortion, illegal immigration and the rapid growth of the government, all of which are views shared by a plurality of Donald Trump supporters.
